Solar power can be a large investment, on average (at the time of this writing) the price per watt installed is between $3.50 and $5.00. A 1 Kilowatt (KW) system is equal to 1,000 watts and most homes could use at least 2KW to be worthwhile. Unless you have a very good handle on electricity and wiring, we strongly suggest getting a professional contractor to handle this for you. If you do decide to give it a go yourself, be sure to get the proper permits and inspections along the way, as this could save your house (literally) in the way of safety and insurance claims.
Due to the dramatic decrease in solar installation and equipment costs, state and federal tax rebates that spurred the growth of solar power in Canada are no longer available.
